The park is nestled between the bay and the ocean, giving campers options on where they want to stay. (Our preference is the ocean because it is the only oceanfront campsite in the state.) Another attraction is the wild horses that roam the sand dunes, beaches, forests, and salt marshes.
If you own a horse, Assateague’s horse campground can accommodate up to six of them. Just make sure to book your reservations ahead of time.
Frontier Town Campground
